jantē hon umid-var mujhē

yuun tarastē hain mai ko goya ham

pir-ē-mai-ḳhana kē murid nahin

ḳhuun ho jaa.ēn ḳhaak mēn mil jaa.ēn

hazrat-ē-dil sē kuchh ba.iid nahin

aao mērē mazar par bhi kabhi

kushta-ē-naz kya shahid nahin

ham to mayūs hain magar ‘bēḳhud’

dil-ē-na-fahm na-umid nahin

baiThta hai hamēsha rindon mēn

kahin zahid vali na ho jaa.ē

tal-ē-bad vahan bhi saath na dē

maut bhi zindagi na ho jaa.ē

apni ḳhū-ē-vafa sē Darta huun

“kabhi haya unhēn aai kabhi ġhurūr aaya”

kabhi haya unhēn aai kabhi ġhurūr aaya

hamarē kaam mēn sau sau tarah futūr aaya

hazar shukr vo ashiq to jantē hain mujhē

“jis mēn sauda nahin vo sar hi nahin”

dard jis mēn nahin jigar hi nahin

log kahtē hain vo bhi hain bēchain

kuchh yē bē-tabiyan idhar hi nahin

dil kahan ka jo dard-ē-dil hi na ho

sar kahan ka jo dard-ē-sar hi nahin

bē-ḳhabar jin ki yaad mēn hain ham

ḳhair sē un ko kuchh ḳhabar hi nahin

‘bēḳhud’-ē-mahv o shikva-ha-ē-itab

is manush ka to vo bashar hi nahin

“raqibon ka mujh sē gila ho raha hai”

raqibon ka mujh sē gila ho raha hai

yē kya kar rahē ho yē kya ho raha hai

dua ko nahin raah milti falak ki

kuchh aisa hujūm-ē-bala ho raha hai

vo jo kar rahē hain baja kar rahē hain

zamanē ka ab ashna ho raha hai

chhupa.ē huē dil ko phirtē hain ‘bēḳhud’

ki ḳhvahan koi dil-ruba hua hai

Hamko ab tak aashiqui ka woh zamaana yaad hai
